Visit a cheese farm

Hoeve Waterrijk has been a byword in cheese-making Holland for generations, winning impressive prizes for its terrific cheeses. Make it part of the trip if you wish.

Farmer Marije van der Poel leads you around the farm and tells you all about the art of making cheese (in Dutch and English).

The visit will end with a cheese tasting and the guests will receive a piece of Boeren Goudse Oplegkaas to take home.

Wind mill tour

Around the Amsterdam Lakes are more than 16 windmills who can be discovered when sailing over the lakes. There are more windmills than on the Zaanse Schans, and only 3 windmills less than Kinderdijk.

The big difference: you can see the windmills on your own from the boat while at Zaanse Schans en Kinderdijk you walk is a tourist crowd.  During this tour you can enjoy a delicious lunch, high tea, cocktails or dinner.

Visit a windmill

De Lijkermolen, also known as Lijker 1, is a unique authentic windmill dating from 1780. Visiting to this listed monument is well worth it.
This mill and Lijkermolen No 2 are the only twelve-sided mills in the Netherlands.
The Rijnlandse Molenstichting acquired the mill in 1976 and restored the mill in 1996. The mill is still in use.
